The German Bundesliga is the top tier football league in Germany. The Deutsche Football Liga is the organising body of this competition that was founded back in 1963. The league is made up by 18 clubs that face each other twice.
It has been known for being a platform for promising young players to then move on to more highly rated leagues such as the English Premier League and the Spanish La Liga. The popularity of the German Bundesliga has increased in recent years thanks to the top notch stadiums most clubs own and also to the high level of players the league is attracting. Over the last decade the Bundesliga has mainly been dominated by two clubs, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich.
Since its’ inception, the club to have won the German Bundesliga the most times is Bayern Munich followed by Borussia Dortmund and Borussia Monchengladbach. On a personal level, the player to have played most matches is Karl-Heinz Korbel as he played an impressive 602 matches. The player to have scored the most goals is Gerd Muller as he managed 365 goals.
